Keeping the Love You Find: How to Make a Relationship Be on Its Best

Great relationships don't just happen. Ask any couple that has been together for years and they will tell you that it's a lot of hard work. What makes two people stay together? Love, respect and honesty? Sure. But that's not all there is to it. It's not just about what you have, mostly it's about what you are willing to do or sacrifice to make your "happily ever after" come true. Here are some tips in keeping the love you find:

1.) Find a common goal for your life together

When you are in a committed relationship, it's very important that you and your partner share the same goals. If you are not on the same page, complications will rise and you'll realize in the end that you shouldn't have wasted your time. Successful couples have a "we" or "us" mentality. They have a shared vision and they want the same thing for the future. When you and your partner share the same dreams, you are more likely to make your dreams come true.

2.) Commit yourself into the relationship by Giving Your All

The saying "You reap what you sow" is true in every way. A relationship won't be successful if you don't put enough time, effort and commitment to make it work. Don't expect your partner to be crazy about you if you've been ignoring them or always nagging them about the petty stuff. If at the start of the relationship, you were cooking your partner's favorite meals all the time and you were always planning on romantic dates, you can't just stop doing that and expect that everything will be the same. If you want your relationship to last a lifetime, you have to work on the "sparkle" each and every day. I know it's not an easy task but all your efforts will pay off. Don't stop being romantic to your partner just because you two got so comfortable. Every relationship reaches a plateau but you don't have to make it worst than it is.

Life is too short and my advice to you is to cherish every moment you have together. Never let a day pass without telling that person in your life how much they mean to you. Make your relationship at its best every single day if you can.

3.) Reignite Your Sexual Connection

Don't be one of those couples who only have sex once every three months. As shallow as it may sound but sex is an important aspect of any relationship. It is more than just a physical act; it is something that strengthens your emotional connection because it's one thing that only the two of you share. Making love to your partner works like a charm, it draws you back together when you two are starting to drift apart. It wouldn't hurt to kindle those sparks when you first started dating, right?

You need to keep working to seduce and make each other excited or your sex life is something that will be a part of history. Reimagine the passion you've once had for each other and don't be afraid to try new things. Reigniting your sexual connection will help outdo all the stresses in your life.

4.) Stop Blaming Each Other

When things go badly, it's so easy to point fingers to who is at fault but this is something you don't want to do in keeping the love you find. Your relationship will be better off if you can talk about things without asking who's to blame. Work on solving your issues instead of bickering on each other. Remember that it takes two to tango and you are both sharing a joint responsibility for the relationship. Stop starting your sentences with "The problem with you is... " or "If you didn't do that we won't be having this argument right now".

5.) Find Time for Each Other

This won't be easy if you and your partner have hectic careers. This is not an excuse though for you to ignore each other. No matter how busy you are, you need to make an effort to find time for your partner.
